Dr. Barbara V. Schochet is a licensed clinical psychologist who sees adults and adolescents in her private psychotherapy practice in West Los Angeles, California. She has studied the psychological aspects of diabetes and other chronic conditions for more than 25 years, beginning with original research on psychological aspects of diabetes for her doctoral dissertation. She served in the past as the President of the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Diabetes Association, the first woman and the first non-M.D. to do so and has been active in patient education and outreach efforts for the ADA for more than 20 years. She has given talks nationally and internationally on psychological aspects of diabetes. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Minnesota and a Ph.D. in Psychology from UCLA.
Dr. Schochet trained at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute, Didi Hirsch Community Mental Health Center, and the San Fernando Valley Child Guidance Clinic. She has also completed two year-long training programs at the Los Angeles Institute and Society for Psychoanalytic Studies. She is a volunteer with The Soldiers Project through the Trauma Center at LAISPS. |
